Sedgwick Russell Acting Studio was formed in 2011 by actors Rob Sedgwick and Cathy Russell. Rob and Cathy have over 60 years of combined professional acting experience in stage and screen. They believe that the most effective teaching occurs when students receive dual perspectives on their work which lead to discussions, discovery, and growth as an actor. All of their work is text-oriented, to simulate what students will encounter when they audition and/or book a job.
NYC Acting Classes
Have you always wanted to pursue acting but didn't know how to begin? Are you a professional actor frustrated by classes that don't make you a better, more employable actor? We offer very focused but fun classes for beginners, for intermediate actors (perhaps transitioning from another area of the arts), and for advanced professionals. Each six week session ends with an opportunity to showcase your work to a NYC casting director.
Focused & Fun
In the six week intro class you will work on your cold reading, script analysis and monologue skills in a supportive but honest environment. The final class of each session is an audition workshop (students perform a scene and a monologue) for an A-list casting director. All classes are "team-taught" by professional NY actors and teachers Rob Sedgwick (School of Visual Arts faculty) and Catherine Russell (NYU faculty). All classes taught on an Off-Broadway theater stage at the The Theater Center on Broadway at 50th Street.
